چکیده

Comparative efficacy of miconazole nitrate, graphite, Thuja and Chrysorobin ointments was assessed against three keratinophillic fungi, viz., Trichophyton terrestris, Chrysosporium tropicum and Microsporum gypseum. All the test fungi were sensitive to the anti microbials tested in the present study. Miconazole nitrate, showed the maximum activity followed by Graphite, and Thuja, whereas the minimum inhibition was exhibited by Chrysorobin. Among all the test fungi, T. terrestris was found to be the most sensitive fungus while M. gypseum showed the least activity.

Comparative antimicrobial efficacy, kinetic destruction pattern and microbial inactivation dynamics of extracted cinnamon essential oil and commercial cinnamaldehyde against food borne pathogens

Background and Objective: The increasing demand for the discovery of next-generation antimicrobials necessitates the use of plant extracts as alternatives. This study investigates the antibacterial efficacy of extracted cinnamon essential oil (CEO) and commercial cinnamaldehyde (CN) against foodborne pathogens. Methods: Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method was used to screen the antimicrobial pot...

Comparative in-vitro activity of selected new beta-lactam antimicrobials against Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Four new beta-lactam antimicrobials, ceftriaxone, cefotiam, cefonicid, and mecillinam, were evaluated in vitro against 72 beta-lactamase-negative and 26 beta-lactamase-positive isolates of Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Ceftriaxone was the most active of the antimicrobials tested. It inhibited all isolates, regardless of beta-lactamase activity, at a concentration of less than or equal to 0.015 microgr...

Antimicrobial Activity of Echinophora platyloba Aqueous Extract on Gas- Producing Fungi in Doogh

Nowadays, the application of natural antimicrobials like plant extracts in food preservation isbecoming popular and increasing. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of Echinophora platyloba (E.platyloba) aqueous extract on gas-producing fungi and sensory properties of doogh. For this reason, theconcentration of 0% (Control), 0.125%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 4% and 8% of the extract were...

Highly potent antimicrobial peptides from N-terminal membrane-binding region of E. coli MreB

Microbial pathogenesis is a serious health concern. The threat escalates as the existing conventional antimicrobials are losing their efficacy against the evolving pathogens. Peptides hold promise to be developed into next-generation antibiotics. Antimicrobial peptides adopt amphipathic structures that could selectively bind to and disrupt the microbial membranes. Interaction of proteins with m...
